Juvederm

What is

juvederm?

Juvederm is one of the most common nonsurgical cosmetic procedures performed in the US. It is an FDA-approved cosmetic treatment referred to as a filler. Composed primarily of hyaluronic acid, Juvederm is used to add volume, restore facial contours, improve signs of aging and plump the lips. When injected, Juvederm adds volume to targeted facial areas which promotes a plump, youthful appearance.

How Long

DOES JUVEDERM LAST?

Juvederm has several different product options, all designed to achieve a specific goal. These products vary by consistency, function and length of time the product takes to dissolve.

Juvederm Ultra XC

This is one of the most commonly used products within the Juvederm family. It is the original formulation and can help improve moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Ultra can also be used to add fullness and plump thin lips. Juvederm Ultra XC typically lasts up between 9 and 12 months for most patients.

Juvederm Vollure XC

Juvederm Vollure is ideal for improving moderate to severe facial wrinkles, including marionette lines, nasolabial folds or smile lines around the nose and mouth. This product can last up to 18 months.

Juvederm Vollure XC

Juvederm Vollure is ideal for improving moderate to severe facial wrinkles, including marionette lines, nasolabial folds or smile lines around the nose and mouth. This product can last up to 18 months.

Juvederm Voluma XC

This product helps to restore facial plumpness by adding gel filler directly into the cheek region, adding volume while helping to lift and contour. This is the longest lasting of all Juvederm products, with results lasting up to 2 years!

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC

Juvederm Ultra Plus has a thicker consistency and tends to create more noticeable results. For patients with more advanced volume loss, noticeable hollows at the cheeks or loose, sagging skin, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is likely the best choice. It is also a wonderful option for the lips for a more dramatic result. Like Juvederm Ultra XC, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC can last anywhere from 9 months to a year.

What to Expect From

YOUR JUVEDERM TREATMENT

It is our promise to make you feel as comfortable and informed as possible before and during your procedure. After completing your new patient paperwork, you will meet with one of our Master Aestheticians to discuss your goals for your filler treatment. Next, we will clean and numb the area(s) to be injected and note the injection points to achieve your desired results. Then, we will inject the dermal filler into the marked points at the appropriate depth. The entire treatment process takes between 15 and 60 minutes. During your initial consultation, we will create a customized treatment plan to achieve your unique aesthetic goals. Once a treatment plan is in place, we can give you a better idea of how long you can expect treatment to take.

Pre & Post

TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

One Week Prior to Treatment

  • Avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve
  • Avoid supplements, including St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E

Two Days Prior to Treatment

  • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, or any “anti-aging” products
  • Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream on the area to be treated
  • Do start taking Arnica two days prior to the procedure. This is not required, but it will help to lessen bruising!

24 Hours Prior to Treatment

  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Immediately after treatment you may experience mild swelling or bruising which should subside in a few days to a week. The treated areas can be iced to reduce swelling – ice as much as you can for the first several days. We recommend 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off – up to 5 times a day. Because these injections are likely to cause swelling, please note that it may take up to 2 weeks to see the final result, after the swelling has subsided and the product has settled in.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours
  • Do not expose the area to intense heat
  • Avoid pressure on the treated areas for the first few nights (i.e. sleep on back of possible)
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
  • Do not use AHA, Retinols/Vitamin C therapy or oil based make-up for 24 hours
  • Avoid facials, facial waxing, Glycolic or AHA peels, IPL or energy based treatments and microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment

How Much

DOES JUVEDERM COST?

The cost of Juvederm varies by the area being injected and the number of syringes needed to give you your desired result. Many patients opt to get both Botox and dermal fillers at the same time, so the cost varies from patient to patient.
